Lakers Spotlight
The Los Angeles Lakers just snapped their four-game skid by taking down a slumping Golden State Warriors team, while covering the spread for the first time in their last five games. Offensively on the road, the Lakers rank 13th in points per game, 15th in field goal percentage, and 12th in 3-point shooting. Defensively on the road, the Lakers rank 24th in points allowed, 18th in field goal percentage, 10th in 3-point shooting, and 25th in rebounding.
Spurs Spotlight
The San Antonio Spurs have found themselves in a slump, dropping four-straight, but three of the four teams have been playoff caliber teams. Offensively at home, the Spurs rank 7th in points per game, 5th in field goal percentage, and 7th in 3-point shooting. Defensively at home, the Spurs rank 29th in points allowed, 26th in field goal percentage, 21st in 3-point shooting, and 23rd in rebounding.
Final Say
Neither squad has been playing good basketball, but one team has been far more overrated evidenced by the Lakers 27-36 ATS record compared to the Spurs 32-31-1 ATS record. The Lakers have owned the Spurs going 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS in their last nine meetings, but they are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games, and 0-7 SU in their last seven games on the road. The Spurs haven’t been playing good basketball either, but have gone 3-1 ATS in their last four games at home versus a team with a losing record. Plus LeBron just exerted himself in their last game to get them a victory, so we could see a calmer night from the King. Just can’t trust the Lakers at this point in time when their playoff aspirations are slipping away, which is why I’ll back the home team tonight.
Pick: San Antonio Spurs -2
