Panthers Spotlight
The Carolina Panthers are coming off a dud performance against the New England Patriots, where they lost straight up and against the spread as 3.5-point underdogs. On the road, Carolina’s offense ranks 27th in points allowed, 28th in passing yards, and 16th in rushing yards. They also haven’t been explosive on the road ranking 29th in yards per play. The defensive side has been more pleasant where they rank 7th in points allowed, 1st in passing yards allowed, and 23rd in rushing yards allowed.
Cardinals Spotlight
The Arizona Cardinals are coming off a big divisional win over the San Francisco 49ers, and they did it without Kyler Murray. At home the Cardinals rank 10th in points per game, 10th in passing yards per game, 13th in rushing yards per game, and 4th in yards per play. The defense has been solid as well where they rank 6th in points allowed, 3rd in passing yards allowed, 28th in rushing yards allowed, and 8th in yards per play.
Final Say
Arizona is 8-1 SU in their last nine games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games, and they’ll get to face a rookie quarterback after Sam Darnold hit the IR. Carolina however, is 7-3 SU in their last 10 against Arizona, while they’ve won three straight against them, winning by an average of 13 points per game. In fact, Carolina has covered five straight games against Arizona. Then you consider that Arizona is coming off a divisional win on the road, and have a divisional matchup in Seattle lurking next week, so not a great spot for Arizona. Although Arizona should get by in this game, Carolina’s defense should at least keep it close.
Pick: Carolina Panthers +9
