Columbus snapped a two-game losing streak on Monday, defeating the Detroit Red wings 5-3.  Offensively, the Blue Jackets are 9th in goals per game at 3.23 and score on the power play  19.4% of the time, ranking 16th in the league.  Defensively, the Blue Jackets are 20th in goals allowed at 3.08 and 15th in penalty killing at 81.6%. Elvis Merzlikins will be between the pipes. Merzlikins is 6-2-0 with a 2.49 GAA and a .925 SV%, but has given up 14 goals in his last four starts.

Coyotes Spotlight

Arizona is coming off a rare victory defeating the St. Louis Blues 3-2 on Tuesday. Offensively, the Coyotes are last in goals per game at 1.63, and is 23rd on the power play at 16.7%.  Defensively, the Coyotes are last in goals allowed per game at 3.81, and they are 30th in penalty killing at 67.3%. Karel Vejmelka will be in net and has yet to win a game this season, going 0-9-1 with a 3.29 GAA and a .897 SV%.

Final Say

Arizona is the worst team in the league.  They have the worst record  and give up the most goals while scoring the fewest.  While the defense and goal tending for Columbus has been sub par, the Blue Jackets are playing well on the offensive side, scoring at least three goals per game and twenty total in their last five games. Blue Jackets wins easily.
