Defensively, the Sun Devils rank 19th in points allowed, 15th in pass yards allowed, 32nd in rush yards allowed, and 18th in yards per play.
Final Say
Wisconsin finished the season going 4-2 ATS, but the Badgers probably had higher aspirations than the Las Vegas Bowl. Arizona State finished the season strong winning three of their last four games, while taking out their interstate rivals in the process. Wisconsin brings into this one a tough rushing attack, but Arizona State’s defense has been able to hold their own against the run ranking 32nd overall. They’ll also get to face a quarterback that has been very underwhelming this season where Mertz owns a 9:10 touchdown to interception ratio, so their 15th rank pass defense should come in handy. Wisconsin has gone 2-4 ATS as single-digit favorites this season, while they are just 1-7 ATS in their last eight games as favorites on a neutral site. I’m expecting this to be a grind it out game for both sides where defenses should prevail more often than not, and in those types of games points should come at a premium.
