Blazers Spotlight
The UAB Blazers just won a hard-fought slugfest against the Marshall Thundering Herd, while covering as 4-point underdogs. They’ll stay on the road and travel to Texas for their biggest game of the year. On the road the Blazers offense ranks 48th in points per game, 75th in pass yards, 51st in rush yards, and 40th in yards per play. Defensively on the road, the Blazers rank 10th in points allowed, 35th in pass yards allowed, 8th in rush yards allowed, and 7th in yards per play.
Roadrunners Spotlight
The UTSA Roadrunners just reeled off their 10th straight victory, this time against Southern Mississippi, but failed to cover the 32-point spread. No surprise considering they had this look-ahead game. At home UTSA offense has been mediocre, ranking 44th in points per game, 61st in pass yards, 79th in rush yards, and 69th in yards per play. Defensively is where it’s at for the Roadrunners, ranking 2nd in points allowed, 2nd in pass yards allowed, 3rd in rush yards allowed, and 1st in yards per play.
Final Say
UTSA has been on fire going 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games, while they have won nine straight against Conference USA opponents. The problem for them is that this could be the best team that they will have faced all season. UAB is 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five games, and have gone 6-1 SU in their last seven games on the road. The Roadrunners have the defense, but their offense is the weak point, and UAB has the defense to keep this game close. Wouldn’t surprise me if UTSA goes into the half with a lead considering the Blazers just beat Marshall on the road, then have to travel to Texas, so they could start off slow. But second half, I expect the Blazers to make this a game in what is a huge game for both teams, so grabbing the points seems like the safe play.
Pick: UAB Blazers +4.5
