Rams Spotlight

The VCU Rams are coming into this matchup 0-2 ATS, and got beat straight up when they were favored by 11 points at home against Wagner. The issues with the Rams is their ability to score, which was hindered after junior guard Nah’Shon Hylands left for the NBA. This team has yet to find their identity and the search is on for who’s going to carry them. The answer is Keshawn Curry, who is slowly developing the leadership mentality to run the team, and to do most of the scoring where he’s averaging 12 points per game thus far. The Rams have only made five 3-pointers through their first two games on the year, and are shooting just 38.6% from the field. This team relies on defense, ball control, rebounding and frustrating the opponent with pressure, while the big three inside control the rim.

Commodores Spotlight

The Vanderbilt Commodores are coming into this match up 2-0 SU and 1-0 ATS. Those wins came against Texas State and Alabama State where they were able to score a combined total of 170 points in two games. The Commodores are led by junior guard Scottie Pippen Jr. who is averaging 22.5 points per game, is shooting 56% from field and 42% from deep. The Commodores have their big three inside also, with transfer player 6’10” Q. Millora-Brown from Rice and J. Wright averaging 16.2 points per game. They also have 6’7” power forward Miles Stute.

Final Say

These teams matchup well. They both play the same kind of game being very disciplined on both ends of the floor, don’t throw away possessions, and make you earn every basket. Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville Tennessee has become a very difficult place to play. Both these teams have good guard play, so I predict this game is close throughout and could get dirty at times making this a slugfest between both teams, which should provide a very low score, comfortably going under the posted total of 133 points. Predicted score Vandy 66 VCU 58.

Pick: Under 133 Total Points
